Colo. firms link on water monitoring system

Feb. 5, 2004 — Boulder, Colo.-based firms Sporian Microsystems Inc. and Phase IV Engineering have teamed up on a U.S. Army project to develop a wireless sensor for monitoring drinking water supplies, according to a news release.

The sensor developed under the contract will detect cholera, giardia and E coli. Sporian will provide the sensor technology to remotely detect the pathogens and Phase IV will supply the radio-frequency system that will send the alert to the appropriate authorities, the release said.
