February 10, 2004 – In a step toward moving its nanotechnology R&D into manufacturing, Nanosys Inc., Palo Alto, CA, has named Michael Barnes as VP of technology development systems, and Matthew Bigge as director of corporate development.

Barnes was formerly VP of engineering and CTO for Applied Materials’ etch product business group, and a former senior director of Lam Research Corp.’s 300mm product development effort. Bigge was co-founder and COO of Milcom Technologies, with business ties to Motorola, Nortel, and Xilinx.
