SMIC gets bank loans

February 4, 2003 – Semiconductor Manufacturing International (SMIC) has received $285 million in loans from four banks in China, to help expand production capacity at its 200mm facilities in Shanghai, according to the Xinhua Economic News. The funding follows a $76 million private placement in September 2003, and an earlier round of bank loans in December 2001.
