Taiwan group submits IC standard

February 18, 2004 – A joint venture between the Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) and four chipmakers has yielded an international standard for streamlining communication between UC suppliers and customers.

The Semiconductor Contract Manufacturing B2B Integration (SCMI) project was started in late 2001 by the MOEA along with TSMC, UMC, Advanced Semiconductor Engineering, and Siliconware Precision Industries. It has been certified by RosettaNet, a 500-member nonprofit consortium, and is the first Taiwan-set standard for IC B2B application developers.
