Feb. 4, 2004 — Ultratech Inc. (Nasdaq: UTEK, News, Web), a San Jose, Calif., developer of lithography tools for semiconductor and nanotechnology device fabrication, reported fourth quarter earnings of $3.3 million, or 13 cents per share, compared to a $2.4 million loss in the fourth quarter of 2002. Revenue was $26.8 million, up from $20.7 million in the year-earlier period.
The company posted earnings of $7.6 million, or 31 cents per share, for the year ending Dec. 31, 2003, versus a $25.4 million loss in 2002.
Ultratech President Art Zafiropoulo said in a prepared statement that the company gained market share during the year and that its improved performance reflected a streamlining of operations.
The company’s stock closed up $1.53 yesterday at $29.68 but was down 94 cents at $28.74 in trading late this morning.
