March 9, 2004 – PLX Technology, Sunnyvale, CA, a fabless supplier of PCI-based chips, has agreed to acquire Mountain View, CA-based NetChip, a supplier of chips supporting the USB 2.0 standard, in a $20 million all-stock deal, with an extra $10 million based on one-year provisions.
The deal creates a company that offers chips and design support for two high-speed standards for computers, communications, storage, and consumer electronics.
NetChip reported $9 million in revenues in 2003, more than half of that in 4Q. PLX reported $38 million in 2003 revenues and a $2.3 million net loss.
