German company introduces micro mixer

March 4, 2004 — thinXXS GmbH, a Mainz, Germany-based developer of microfluidic and micro-optic components and systems in plastics, announced its Snake-Mixer, designed to mix tiny quantities of liquids easily and inexpensively. The company will introduce the device at the Hannover Fair in April.

The mixer is intended for applications such as detecting substances in liquid samples for environmental monitoring or food analysis and mixing component adhesives.

The snake-like shape of the device’s micro channels are intended to make small fluid amounts mix completely.
