MEMSIC opens China fab

March 5, 2004 — MEMSIC Inc., a North Andover, Mass., developer of CMOS-based MEMS accelerometers, opened a 45,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, China, according to a news release.

The facility has an initial production capacity of 500,000 accelerometers per month, which the company says will be expanded to 1 million units per month by the middle of the year.

The company said the facility is capable of producing 10 million units per month and includes manufacturing areas and clean rooms for packaging and testing.
