Mitsui to merge three nano units

March 12, 2004 — Mitsui & Co. Ltd. is reorganizing its nanotechnology businesses, combining three research and development groups into a single unit starting April 1, according to Asia Pulse.

 

The general trading company will focus its research on two areas — carbon nanotubes and nanoporous membranes — with the goal of commercialization within two years. Nanotubes are being tested for use in lightweight, high-strength resins for vehicles. Nanoporous membranes are being to produce alcohol for vehicle fuel, the report said.
