SEMATECH inks state research deal

March 29, 2004 – SEMATECH and the state of Texas have agreed to launch a five-year, $200 million project to accelerate the development of next-generation semiconductors, as well as support projects for nanotechnology and other related areas.

The Advanced Materials Research Center (AMRC), conducted with various local universities, including the U. of Texas system, will target challenges including multiple layering, development of new insulator materials, and extension of lithography methods, including immersion.

Of the total funding, $40 million will come from the Texas Enterprise fund, with the remainder from various sources over the duration of the project.
