TSMC lowering 2005 capex?

March 19, 2004 – TSMC expects its capital spending will drop to $1-$2 billion in 2005 — down 50% from its 2004 budget — due to overcapacity caused by China’s emerging chipmaking industry, according to Reuters. The forecast was based on the company’s estimates that global industry growth will peak at 26% this year, and slow to 10% in 2005.
