AMCC buys IBM PowerPC assets

April 13, 2004 – Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (AMCC), San Diego, CA, has agreed to purchase IP and assets associated with IBM’s 400 series of embedded PowerPC products for $227 million in cash. The deal also gives AMCC access to IBM’s advanced CMOS process and SoC design methodology. IBM, currently an AMCC supplier, will continue to manufacture the products for AMCC.
