Daifuku combines U.S. operations

APRIL 1–REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio–SK Daifuku Corp. will merge with Daifuku America Corp. in an apparent effort to cut costs and better serve its U.S. customers.

The merger brings together Daifuku’s three major product groups as one North American subsidiary of Japan’s Daifuku Co. Ltd. Daifuku America serves the automotive assembly material handling market, while SK Daifuku served the semiconductor cleanroom and material handling markets in North America.

Daifuku America had its headquarters in Reynoldsburg, while SK Daifuku’s head office was in Salt Lake City, Utah. Daifuku America’s headquarters will remain in Reynoldsburg. The Salt Lake City office will now become a support sales, engineering and service operation for semiconductor and warehouse/distribution systems.

The new company will employ over 300 associates throughout the United States. Japan’s Daifuku is headquartered in Osaka. With annual sales of $1.4 billion, the worldwide Daifuku organization employs 3,500 associates.

“Having one organization allows easier cross-industry sharing of ideas and applications, thus helping us to serve all of our customers better,” said Dave Koch, SK Daifuku Corporation president, in a statement
