April 8, 2004 — Hitachi Ltd. (NYSE: HIT, News, Web) will invest nearly $100 million a year in basic research to boost the development of nanotechnology, biotechnology and other advanced fields, according to Asia Pulse.
The Tokyo-based corporation will have its group companies provide funding for research into new technologies with mid- to long-term potential based on sales and other factors. The company has been working with several Japanese universities to strengthen its advanced research, the report said.
