Intel begins 200mm fab conversion

April 21, 2004 – Intel Corp. said it has started the process of converting its Fab 12 200mm wafer fab in Chandler, AZ, into a 300mm/65nm facility. The $2 billion project is scheduled to be completed in late 2005. The upgraded Fab 12 will be Intel’s fifth 300mm facility, joining operations in Oregon, New Mexico, and Ireland.
