China sets up nano accreditation board

May 21, 2004 — China has established an accreditation committee for nanotechnology, according to the China Daily.

The new group, a branch of the China National Accreditation Board for Laboratories, is responsible for lab accreditation of nano-related research, development and products. One of the board’s goals is to promote the creation of labs and inspection bodies that follow international standards.

China’s National Centre for Nanotechnology also announced Thursday that it recruited four of the nation’s leading researchers to serve as chief scientists in an effort to boost research in the field.
