May 13, 2004 — The MEMS Industry Group (MIG) has released a report on reliability and launched a related Web site.

“Industry Report — Focus on Reliability” contains results and analysis from a survey and recommendations from groups of industry leaders. Topics include lessons from the semiconductor industry, failure modes, standards, customer education, accelerated lifetime test and packaging. The reliability Web site is a searchable portal of existing information, including presentations, papers, surveys and a reliability library.

Both efforts grew out of the working groups as well as MIG’s MEMS Technology Roadmap and Industry Congress, held last September in Pittsburgh. More than 100 business, academic and government leaders attended the two-day conference, which focused on reliability.

The report and access to the site are free to members of the Pittsburgh-based trade association. The report is available for sale to nonmembers.
