May 25, 2004 — Ntera Ltd., a Dublin, Ireland-developer of displays using nanostructured materials, plans to commercially launch its technology by year’s end.
NanoChromics displays are expected to be available in the fourth quarter for low-resolution display applications, such as clocks and instrumentation. Ntera also will license its technology to liquid crystal display producers to make and sell to their customers, according to a news release.
The firm said it’s working with partners on integrating its technology into high-resolution, active matrix displays, such as laptops and PDAs.
Ntera said its technology produces displays that look like ink on paper with a pure white background. The company also touts NanoChromics displays’ higher reflectivity and contrast, and lower power consumption than existing display technologies.
