May 10, 2004 — Zyvex Corp. (News, Web) has launched the first two products in a planned line of composite additives.
The company’s NanoSolve products are based on single-wall and multiwall carbon nanotubes. The products are designed for dispersion in polyurethanes, and boost the material’s mechanical strength as well as its thermal and electrical conductivity.
Potential uses include anti-static carpeting and foam for shipping or filling spaces, said Mark Banash, Zyvex’s senior engineer.
Banash said the Richardson, Texas-based firm expects customers to integrate the additives into manufacturing processes within a few months.
“Our nanotubes can work with the existing manufacturing setup,” he said. “We’re not asking for a huge increase in capital spending or a huge redesign. … We want our material to integrate seamlessly into a customer’s application.”
