German government to fund Aixtron Chinese R&D training center

June 22, 2004 – The German government has approved the funding for a joint project to establish an Aixtron R&D training center in China for optical technologies, the company reports.

The BMBF (Germany’s International Bureaus of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research) approved Tsinghua University, Beijing; the RWTH Aachen University of Technology; and Hong Kong University to partner with Aixtron in this joint program.

The scope of the program is to advance R&D and training in the field of compound semiconductors for optoelectronic applications to support the fast-growing compound semiconductor industry in China.

Business students and engineers of small- and medium- sized companies will be trained to develop competitive new products in the field of optoelectronics using Aixtron technology.
