NanoSight launches nanoparticle detector

July 6, 2004 – NanoSight Ltd. (News, Web) is launching a nanoparticle detection instrument.

Halo LM10 is designed to combine the high throughput of optical detection systems with the high resolution of scanning probe and electron microscopy. A company director said earlier this year that the detector could be used for quality control of nanoparticles and rapid detection of biohazards.

Salisbury, England-based NanoSight last year licensed its technology for biothreat detection applications to U.K.-based Smiths Detection-Watford Ltd., a subsidiary of Smiths Industries PLC. NanoSight is seeking partners for Halo in the medical, nanoparticle manufacturing and scientific instrumentation markets.
