Nanophase system spawns speedier samples

Aug. 16, 2004 – Nanophase Technologies Corp. (Quote, News, Web) has developed a custom process to make sample quantities of nanoparticles to meet increased demand.

NanoExpress allows the Romeoville, Ill.-based firm to deliver nanocrystalline metal oxides in about six weeks after a customer’s request. The manufacturing system is specifically designed to make smaller lots economically, but with the same properties as those produced in a production environment, according to a news release. The company said the process should reduce the time to market for nanomaterials and application testing.

Nanophase also announced that it secured a European patent that extends its patent protection for surface treatment of nanoparticles. The technology allows the company to engineer nanomaterials for many market segments, including personal care, polymer additives and catalysts, the release said.
