MEMSIC, TI team up on sensors for auto market

Oct. 6, 2004 – Texas Instruments and MEMSIC announced they have signed an automotive marketing agreement involving MEMSIC’s thermal sensor technology, according to a news release. The deal calls for TI’s Sensors and Controls business to make MEMSIC’s accelerometers available for automotive applications.

Dallas-based TI and North Andover, Mass.-based MEMSIC will work together to develop new automotive-specific products to be made by MEMSIC at its China manufacturing facility exclusively for TI, the release said. MEMSIC officials said in the release that the pact allows original equipment manufacturers access to its technology through a familiar, established supplier. It also allows MEMSIC to continue to grow its core consumer business, which includes computers and mobile phones.
