Nov. 16, 2004 – Affymetrix Inc. (Nasdaq: AFFX, News, Web) has released a new line of microarrays for scientists studying anthrax, influenza, tuberculosis and other pathogenic organisms.
The Santa Clara, Calif.-based firm said in a news release that the 179 NimbleExpress prokaryotic array designs provide the most comprehensive catalog offering of microarray expression products for basic microbiology and infectious diseases. The arrays, compatible with Affymetrix’s GeneChip System, are designed to allow researchers technology to conduct a broader range of microbial studies in an effort to understand disease and improve health.
NimbleExpress arrays are manufactured by Madison, Wis.-based NimbleGen Systems Inc. for Affymetrix. The two firms, which signed a partnership deal this year, collaborated on the array’s design.
