Nov. 4, 2004 – Luna Innovations (News, Web) has launched its sixth company, which will focus on manufacturing nanomaterial-based products for cancer therapy, electronics, chemical and biological warfare testing and other areas. Luna nanoWorks, based in Danville, Va., will be working with carbon nanotubes and other recently discovered carbon nanomaterials from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Material manufacturing and product development is expected by early next year, according to a news release. Luna Innovations’ five other spinoffs are Luna Technologies, Luna iMonitoring, Luna Nanomaterials, Luna Energy and Luna Analytics.
