Toray develops nanoscale processing for fabric

Nov. 1, 2004- A nanoscale processing technology has been developed by Japan’s Toray Industries. The process puts an even coating of functional material onto each monofilament of treated fabric according to a release from the company.

Named NanoMATRIX, the application of this technology is expected to lead to the development of new and complex functionalities, remarkable improvements in existing functions such as quality, durability etc and expanded usage in materials/application, without losing the fabric’s texture. Toray has embarked on the development of various nanoscale technologies and focused its attention especially on the self-organization concept. It is proceeding with research and development aimed at the mass production of textiles using nanoscale-processing technology.
