Chinese foundries gain 0.18-micron support

December 20, 2004 – Artisan Components Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, has agreed to support 0.18-micron process technologies from Shanghai Hua Hong NEC Electronics Co. Ltd. (HHNEC), including memory generators for single- and dual-port SRAM, single-and two-port register files, and diffusion programmable ROM, as well as a standard cell library and general-purpose I/O cells. Artisan will distribute HHNED-based IP worldwide free of charge to licensed design teams, expected to be available in 1Q05.

Artisan also has agreed to license its IP to HeJian Technology Suzhou Co. Ltd. to support the foundry’s 0.18-micron CMOS processes. Founded in late 2001, HeJian began initial capacity ramp and delivery of 200mm wafers in mid-2003, and now is in volume production of 0.25-0.18-micron process technologies with capacity exceeding 25,000 wafers/month.
