Atlas Mining and NanoDynamics to collaborate on nano project

Jan. 5, 2005 — Atlas Mining Co. (OTC.BB: ALMI) and NanoDynamics Inc. announced they have established a strategic relationship to develop high value applications for the hollow microtubules currently being produced at the Dragon Mine in Juab county, Utah.

NanoDynamics will begin purchasing halloysite clay from Atlas to create commercial applications for the material. Alan Rae, NanoDynamics’ vice president of market and business development, said in a prepared statement that the company believes the material could provide plastic composite manufacturers new performance possibilities when designing composites for structural applications. Potential application areas include automotive, sporting goods and defense, he said.

Atlas Mining is an Osburn, Idaho-based company that primarily focuses on the development of the Dragon Mine. NanoDynamics is a Buffalo, N.Y.-based nanomaterials manufacturer for a variety of industries.
