Companies announce nano patents

Jan. 20, 2005 — Two nanotechnology companies announced patent news. Lumera Corp. announced it has been issued the third in a series of patents covering its core technology. Zyvex Corp. announced it had been issued its 20th patent.

Bothell, Wash.-based Lumera said the patent is in a family that protects the electro-optic materials and devices it is developing. The company says its technology uses molecular-level material modification to provide improvements in both lifetime and efficiency of such electro-optic materials.

Richardson, Texas-based Zyvex said the patent it was issued is directed toward the company’s nanotechnology commercialization activities and is fundamental to its NanoWorks tools and NanoSolve materials product lines.
