Microfabrica and MOSIS launch MEMS fab service

Jan. 4, 2005 — Microfabrica Inc. and MOSIS announced today the introduction of EFAB Access, the first multi-project run service to offer Microfabrica’s 3-D micromanufacturing technology.

The service is intended to give companies, universities, research labs and individuals the ability to design three-dimensional MEMS and microdevices and have their prototypes produced economically through MOSIS. The program will serve a variety of 3-D applications, including sensors, actuators, RF devices and medical instruments.

Microfabrica, founded in 1999, is a Burbank, Calif.-based provider of the EFAB micromanufacturing process for wireless, consumer electronics, automotive and military/aerospace uses. MOSIS, founded in 1981, is a leading low-cost prototyping and small-volume production service for circuit development. It is based in Marina del Rey, Calif.
