Oxonica to supply sunscreen additive to Boots Group

Feb. 2, 2005 — Oxonica Limited, an Oxford, England-based nanomaterials developer, announced that Boots Group Plc will incorporate Oxonica’s Optisol UV filter with its new range of Soltan’s Facial Suncare products.

Optisol is based on ultra-fine titanium dioxide with the inclusion in the crystal of a small amount of manganese. It is designed to provide enhanced UVA protection and to mitigate the effects of exposure to the sun. Boots is aiming to adopt Optisol for inclusion in its new suncare range by April of this year, according to a release issued by Oxonica.
