Siliconix buys Vishay ops, eyes 200mm fab

February 7, 2005 – Siliconix Inc., Santa Clara, CA, has purchased Vishay Semiconductor Itzehoe GmbH (VSIG), including assets and liabilities, for EURO7.5 million ($10.2 million), and plans to build its first 200mm fab at the site.

Vishay received the operation, as well as its 80.4% ownership of Siliconix, through a 1998 acquisition of the Temic semiconductor division of Daimler-Benz. VSIG posted $29.0 million in sales for the first three quarters of 2004, a $269,000 net loss.
