Cymer appoints Watanabe to president of Japanese operations

March 3, 2005 – Cymer Inc. has announced the promotion of Takeshi Watanabe, 50, to president of Cymer Japan Inc. In this role, Watanabe-san will be responsible for managing the company’s overall Japan business, including sales, service, and operations infrastructure for direct Customers and chipmakers. He will directly report to Jim McGuire, Cymer’s newly appointed senior VP of worldwide customer operations.

“Japan represents a vital market for Cymer, as both a global focal point for semiconductor innovation and an early adopter of next-generation integrated circuit (IC) technologies for today’s most demanding consumer electronic applications,” said Bill Alexander, executive VP of worldwide customer operations for Cymer.

For the last five years, Watanabe-san has played an instrumental role leading the marketing and sales team for one of the company’s largest customers. He has spent more than two decades in various management roles in Japan within leading multinational technology companies such as Guidant, Duracell, Kulicke & Soffa, Sony Music Entertainment, and Measurex Japan Ltd.
