(May 2, 2005) Taipei, Taiwan — ASE Test Limited announces a first-quarter diluted loss of $0.14 per share, which ended March 31, 2005, under generally accepted accounting principles in the United States (U.S. GAAP), compared with diluted earnings of $0.08 per share one year ago, and a diluted loss of $0.41 per share in the fourth quarter of 2004. Under generally accepted accounting principles in China (ROC GAAP), ASE reports a first-quarter diluted loss of $0.15 per share, compared with diluted earnings of $0.09 per share one year ago, and diluted loss of $0.27 per share in the fourth quarter of 2004. The company’s first-quarter net losses amounted to $13.6 million under U.S. GAAP and $15.2 million under ROC GAAP.
