New germicidal product from Knock-Out Technologies passes efficacy test for eradicating Bird Flu virus

PALM SPRINGS, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–April 4, 2005–Knock-Out Technologies, Ltd.’s Big Six Germicidal Plus product has passed a Virucidal Efficacy Test conducted by Microbiotest, Inc., a leading independent laboratory based in Sterling, Virginia., demonstrating conclusive results in completely eradicating the Avian Influenza (Bird Flu) virus with 100 percent efficacy. In addition to the efficacy of the product against the Bird Flu virus, the Big Six Germicidal is also non-toxic to the environment.

The Avian Flu study completes the product’s process of meeting the Environmental Protection Agency efficacy guidelines. Knock-Out Technologies, Inc., based in Dover Plains, New York, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Palm Springs, California based eFoodSafety.com, Inc.

During the study, which Microbiotest conducted over a period of 13 days, embryonated chicken eggs were injected with the Avian Influenza A virus and were incubated for five to seven days. Microbiotest’s report concludes: When tested, Knock-Out Technologies’ Big 6 Plus passed the Virucidal Efficacy Test when Avian Influenza A virus was exposed to the test agent for 10 minutes at room temperature. All the controls met the criteria for a valid test.

Outbreaks of Avian Influenza A among poultry are ongoing in several countries in Asia, including Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia.

The report also contains Quality Assurance and Compliance Statements that are assurances for the company that the raw data was accurately reflected and that the test was conducted under the Good Laboratory Practice regulations as published in the Federal Register and adhere to EPA Protocol.

In application, Knock-Out Technologies’ Big Six Germicidal Plus product would be sprayed and fogged in contaminated areas and would act to completely kill the virus within 10 minutes. Other products on the market include derivations of chlorine dioxide or bleach, but they are highly corrosive and carcinogenic, according to Mark Taggatz, President and CEO, eFoodSafety.com, Inc.

“In over four years of development and testing, our Big Six Germicidal Plus product is finally in the forefront of technology for eradicating viruses,” stated Taggatz. “This natural food grade and environmentally safe germicidal spray kills the deadly Avian Flu virus, as well as six of the most common deadly bacteria: E-coli, Listeria, Pseudomonas, Salmonella, Staphylococcus and Streptococcus.

“Now that our Big Six Germidical Plus product has completed the process of meeting the EPA efficacy guidelines we can apply for an EPA license for marketing the product in the United States,” added Taggatz. More immediately, he points out, given the Avian Flu epidemic sweeping through bird populations in Asia, company representatives in selected Asian countries are continuing to clear the way for immediate testing of this product.
