Orthofix to market bone repair biomaterials

April 26, 2005 — Orthofix International NV announced it entered into an agreement with Berkeley Advanced Biomaterials Inc. whereby Orthofix will market and distribute a line of bone repair resorbable biomaterials engineered by Berkeley for trauma and reconstruction applications.

Under the agreement, Orthofix will market and sell the line of resorbable biomaterials that will be packaged for Orthofix as granules, blocks, moldable putty and putty-injection kits. The company says its biomaterials, based on nanocrystalline hydroxyapatite technology, are engineered to allow bone to remodel rapidly. The product line will be branded as OsteoMax.
