ROLLING MEADOWS, IL (April 12, 2005) Registration is now open for the Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST) online education course, Biocontamination. This class will be taught by Gordon Ely, IEST Technical Vice President, on Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at 11:00 am Central Daylight Savings Time.
The live online environment and one low fee per site allow cleanroom professionals around the world to learn from the comfort of their desk, conference room, or auditorium.
The one-hour, live online course covers ISO 14698-1: Biocontamination control-Part 1: General principles and methods, and ISO Standard 14698-2, Biocontamination control-Part 2: Evaluation and interpretation of biocontamination data. Specifically, it will cover detection, enumeration and identification of microorganisms. Included are class notes and copies of the two ISO Standards. A question and answer session will be part of the class.
Anyone responsible for biocontamination control in process development and production and other manufacturing stages, including managers, engineers, QA/QC personnel, microbiologists, housekeeping, maintenance, and cleanroom personnel, and production line personnel in the pharmaceutical, medical device, food, cosmetics, and hospital industries should attend. Persons involved in electronics, semiconductor, aerospace, and others, where microbiology is a foreign language, are also encouraged to participate.
The instructor is Gordon Ely, Technical Vice President of IEST. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology with a chemistry minor from Brigham Young University. He has worked at Nelson Laboratories, Inc. for the past 13 years, serving in many capacities. He is currently section leader of the IDs/Packaging section, specializing in microbial identifications and packaging validations. Ely is certified through The National Registry of Microbiologists as a Specialist Microbiologist (NRM) in Consumer and Industrial Microbiology (Pharmaceutical/Medical Device/Cosmetic). He is also involved on various working groups within IEST, ISO, and AAMI.
