Intel sets up its third plant in Shanghai

May 16, 2005 – On May 11, Intel Corp. announced that Intel Technological Development (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. was formally established, with a total investment of over CNY 300 million (US$39 million), according to the Financial Times.

It is Intel’s third-phase investment in Pudong District, following its investment in establishing chip testing and packaging plants. The new plant, named “PD3”, is located in the Intel Products (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. park.

In Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone, its two brothers “PD1” and “PD2” came on line in 1998, mainly engaged in chip testing and packaging businesses. Intel discloses that PD3 will work for manufacture of flash memory devices, research and development of packaging technology and user platform.
