May 13, 2005 — Nextreme Thermal Solutions, a newly formed company in Research Triangle Park, N.C. that develops embedded thermoelectric components, appointed Bob Conner to lead its marketing and business development functions. Conner, a 20-year semiconductor industry veteran, was formerly the founding CEO of Symmorphix, an optical components manufacturer.
Nextreme manufactures solid-state components that operate as miniature heat pumps for cooling semiconductors and other electronics, and for fiber-optic laser control and thermal management of integrated optoelectronics. Its thin-film superlattice technology allows for the embedding of an active cooling device directly into an integrated circuit’s package.
