Ohio provides grant to create nanotechnology center

May 11, 2005 — The Ohio Department of Development today announced grants of $34 million to accelerate the growth of Ohio’s polymer and advanced materials industries. The grants will be used to establish the Center for Multifunctional Polymer Nanomaterials and Devices and the Ohio Biopolymers Innovation Center, both located at Ohio State University.

The Center for Multifunctional Polymer Nanomaterials and Devices received $22.5 million while Ohio Biopolymers Innovation Center was awarded $11.5 million. Both are part of the state’s Wright Centers of Innovation initiative, which focuses on developing new high-growth technologies that produce jobs in Ohio’s polymer industry. The grants were made available through the state’s Third Frontier Project.
