Calabasas, CA – May 19, 2005 – National Technical Systems, Inc., a leading provider of quality and conformance testing and managed services, announced that it has been awarded a long term agreement with Germantown, MD-based Smiths Aerospace, a business unit of the Smiths Group plc, covering testing and compliance services in the environmental and structural areas. The agreement runs through April 2006.
Under the agreement, National Technical Systems, (NTS), will provide a wide range of testing services including temperature and humidity, mechanical vibration and shock, electromagnetic interference and structural load testing for Smiths Aerospace and other Smiths business units including: Smiths Medical, Titflex Corporation, Smiths Mechanical Systems, Smiths Electronic Systems, and Beagle Aircraft Limited. These qualification test programs are conducted to assure compliance to the broad range of commercial and government requirements necessary to bring Smiths Aerospace’s products to market. NTS will automatically be included in the competitive bidding for any Smiths Aerospace outsourced testing requirements in the environmental and structural fields. Having test labs throughout the U.S. and overseas, NTS can provide a wide range of environmental and structural test capabilities as well as diverse engineering services with the flexible volume capacity often required for multiple product development, qualification and certification programs. Smiths’ vendor selection program is designed to identify and utilize top suppliers in each industry in order to maximize the availability of advanced solutions and products while maintaining a minimum number of subcontractor relationships and affecting the maximum cost-efficiency of large scale procurements.

NTS’ European business continues to grow with the addition of its office in Munich, Germany. NTS also provides compliance testing in the Asia Pacific markets.
