Denso to build extra IC wafer plant In central Japan

June 9, 2005 – Denso Corp. has said that it will build an additional plant to produce IC wafers at the site of its Kota plant in Aichi Prefecture, central Japan, according to a report in the Nikkei English News. Desno, the automotive component manufacturing affiliate of Toyota Motor Corp., said it will initially invest about 17 billion yen (US$158 million) for the new production facility by the fiscal year ending March 2007.

The company will make additional investments as required based on demand for IC products. By the fiscal year ending March 2011, the new facility will produce 10,000 8-inch IC wafers for automotive electronic devices a month, Denso said in a press release. Production at the new plant will begin in June next year, the company said.
