(June 23, 2005) San Jose, Calif. &#8212 Tessera Technologies’ chairman, president, and CEO, Bruce McWilliams, nabbed an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2005 Award in the Manufacturing & Semiconductors category in a program sponsored by professional services firm Ernst & Young LLP. McWilliams was selected from 25 finalists in Northern California by an independent panel of judges comprised of local business, academic, and community leaders.

“I am truly honored to have received this award, which reflects the outstanding accomplishments of Tessera and its employees,” says McWilliams. “I’m very fortunate to be working with an enormously talented team, and I accept this award on behalf of our entire company, which this year is celebrating its 15th anniversary of developing best-in-class technologies for the global electronics industry.”

Since becoming CEO in June 1999, McWilliams has defined Tessera’s growth and profitability strategy, re-routing the company from an operating loss to 14 consecutive quarters of profitability and a 59% annual revenue growth rate from 2000 to 2004. So far, over 5 billion semiconductors incorporating Tessera’s technology have been shipped, with more than 1.5 billion shipped in 2004 alone.

McWilliams will be eligible for consideration for the Entrepreneur of the Year 2005 national program. Winners in several national categories, as well as the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year, will be announced at the annual awards gala on November 19, 2005, in Palm Springs, Calif.
