Infineon awards contract to M + W Zander for new Malaysian plant

June 14, 2005 – Singapore-based M + W Zander Facility Ltd., an associate company of German group M + W Zander Holding AG, has received a 130 million euro (US$170 million) contract from Infineon Technologies AG to set up its plant in Malaysia, reported Bernama, the Malaysian National News Agency.

Infineon Technologies announced some months back that it was shifting part of its operations to Malaysia. The Singapore associate company of M + W Zander will be setting up a new front-end plant, probably by early 2006, in Malaysia’s Kulim Hi-Tech Park.

The turnkey project will include the planning, construction and designing of the plant as well as the so-called “hook up” of the production lines. The new plant will mainly produce logic and efficiency semiconductors for use in cars and for industrial applications.

The plant will supplement Infineon’s existing production lines for nonmemory products in Germany as well as the facilities of Altis Semiconductor in France.
