Learn from the Experts: The Basics of ISO 14644-1 and ISO 14644-2

ROLLING MEADOWS, IL–(June 28, 2005)–The Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST) is continuing to offer valuable online education classes. IEST will be offering a class on cleanroom ISO Standards, taught by Robert Mielke of Abbott Laboratories, on Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Central Daylight Savings Time.

This one-hour online course covers the basics of ISO 14644-1: Cleanrooms and associated controlled environments – Classification of air cleanliness and ISO 14644-2: Cleanrooms and associated controlled environments – Specifications for testing and monitoring to prove continued compliance with ISO 14644-1. It will explore the requirements for characterizing the particle count performance of air in cleanrooms and clean zones and which tests are required to characterize the performance of cleanrooms and clean zones. Incorporated into the class is a question and answer session with the instructor.

The instructor is Robert Mielke, secretary for ISO Technical Committee 209, Cleanrooms and associated controlled environments and member of ISO Technical Committee 209 Working Group 1, which wrote ISO 14644-1 and ISO 14644-2. He was Chair of the IEST Contamination Control Standards and Practices Committee for eight years, and served as Technical Vice President of the Contamination Control Division. Robert Mielke is currently a principal metrology engineer at Abbott Laboratories.
Anyone responsible for specifying, designing, installing, operating, maintaining, and testing cleanrooms should attend. Class notes and a copy of ISO 14644-2: Cleanrooms and associated controlled environments – Specifications for testing and monitoring to prove continued compliance with ISO 14644-1 are included.
