BILLERICA, Mass.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–June 24, 2005–Millipore Corporation (NYSE: MIL), a multinational bioscience company, and 3M Company (NYSE: MMM), a leading technology innovator in health care markets, announced today that they have entered into a supply and distribution agreement for 96-well Multi-SPE Extraction Plates. Under the terms of the agreement, the plates, developed by 3M, will be branded and distributed by Millipore for life science sample preparation applications.
Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) is the preferred method for isolating and concentrating low levels of analytes by eliminating substances that contribute to and interfere with mass spectrometry signal detection. The Multi-SPE Extraction Plates feature 3M(TM) Empore(TM) membranes, which produce clean extracts, extend LC-MS/MS column life and decrease instrument downtime.
Jonathan DiVincenzo, Vice President of R&D and Marketing for Millipore’s Bioscience Division, commented: “SPE is a popular method for our customers, who need to focus on data quality at low detection limits. 3M technology is well known for its performance, quality and reliability. The overall value is efficiency for high throughput sample processing.”
SPE products typically are used in the environmental and bioanalytical sample preparation markets. The Multi-SPE Extraction Plate minimizes solvent usage and eliminates evaporation/reconstitution steps.
“Both companies have innovative solutions that meet the needs of their global customers. Through this relationship, customers will continue receiving quality sample preparation products from two premiere technology companies with brand and industry recognition,” said Gregg Vandesteeg, Vice President of R&D, 3M Health Care, 3M Company.
