SIA Forecasts 6% Growth for Global Semiconductor Sales

(June 08, 2005) San Jose, Calif. &#8212 The Semiconductor Industry Association’s (SIA) revised forecast projects that worldwide sales of semiconductors will grow 6% in 2005 to $226 billion. In the November 2004 forecast, the SIA had projected that 2005 sales would be essentially flat with 2004’s $213 billion sales level. The new forecast also projects a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.8% through 2008, and also projects that global chip sales will reach $309 billion in 2008.

(June 09, 2005) San Jose, Calif. &#8212 Ultratech Inc. has named Peter Shamshoian as its new VP of sales for North America and Europe. Having over two decades of semiconductor-industry experience, Shamshoian will report directly to Rick Friedman, senior VP of worldwide sales and marketing, in his new role.
