Cepheid announces new exec VP

July 26, 2005 — Cepheid, a Sunnyvale, Calif., developer of integrated genetic assessment systems, announced that David Persing will join the company as executive vice president and chief medical and technical officer with responsibility for research and development. Persing, whose appointment is effective Aug. 29, will report to CEO John Bishop.

Persing has been a member of Cepheid’s board of directors since April 29, 2004 and will remain on the board. He most recently held the position of senior vice president and chief scientific officer at Corixa Corp. In 1992, Persing established the Molecular Microbiology Laboratory at Mayo Clinic Rochester.
