Aug. 9, 2005 — Ecology Coatings Inc., an Akron, Ohio, provider of nano-engineered ultraviolet curable coatings, announced today that it has used its coating technology to develop a process for producing waterproof, mildew resistant paper.
The process, which the company claims would be cost-effective for commercial applications, impregnates ordinary paper with nanoparticles.
The company says that the method produces waterproof, wood pulp-based paper that maintains the original performance properties of the paper after being immersed in water.
