Micron’s expanded assembly and test facility in Singapore is open

September 9, 2005 – Micron Technology Inc. is today hosting a ceremony to announce the grand opening of its US$250 million test and assembly facility expansion in Singapore, Micron Semiconductor Asia PTE Ltd. The 264,778- sq.-ft. facility expansion houses state-of-the-art equipment for assembling and testing a wide range of high-density, high-speed memory components and modules.

“Micron’s long-term success is influenced by our efforts to serve a variety of markets combined with our ability to develop new and innovative technologies,” said Steve Appleton, Micron Chairman, president, and CEO. “The $250 million investment in our Singapore expansion reinforces Micron’s ability to meet the growing demand for semiconductors throughout the expanding Asian marketplace.”

Micron’s presence in Singapore also includes a sales and marketing office for all Micron memory products in the Asia-Pacific region and a joint venture interest in fab operations at TECH Semiconductor. Micron and its subsidiaries employ approximately 19,000 employees worldwide with manufacturing facilities located in Italy, Singapore, Japan, United Kingdom, and the US.

Chee How Heng, Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Minister of State for National Development for the Republic of Singapore will join Appleton, Jen Kwong Hwa, local dignitaries, and other Micron officials at the grand opening ceremony.
